Cape Resorts Group To Develop New Beachfront Property in Cape May, NJ

Due to tightening capital markets, Cape Resorts Group sees a greater opportunity to meet the demand of today's vacationing public by offering customers a comfortable vacation hotel close to home, rather than a second home. The Ocean House is still a possibility for the future, however, and The Permit Extension Act of 2008 enables Cape Resorts Group to have the long-term vision of developing the project at a later date.

Following a season of high revenue and occupancy growth, Cape Resorts Group is adding a new hotel to its family of luxury properties - The Beach Shack. A refurbishment of what now is the Coachman's Motor Inn, The Beach Shack will embody the distinctive relaxed luxury and distinctive style of all Cape Resorts Group properties, while in a slightly more casual environment.

Designed by Colleen Bashaw, interior designer of all Cape Resorts Group properties, The Beach Shack's refurbishment will include:

  • Upgrade of all 65 rooms and suites with Cape Resorts Group signature luxury bedding, fresh, contemporary carpet and rugs, crisp white paint, contemporary blinds, flat-screen TV's, and some thematic accent pieces including retro lamps
  • Upgrade of all public spaces with sleek, comfortable furniture
  • Restoration of the Rusty Nail, Cape May's iconic 1960s-era wood tavern, featuring a refreshed layout with French doors opening to outdoor seating.
  • Renewed exterior with new landscaping and lighting, creating a clean and sophisticated beach resort feeling

The Beach Shack will be located at 205 Beach Avenue, across the street from the Cape May boardwalk with direct views of the Atlantic Ocean, and will be set on 1.84 acres of land with a span of over 350 feet of beach-front property. Expected to open in Spring, 2009, this fun and vibrant property will be a wonderful accent to Cape Resorts Group's current collection of properties in Cape May. From quaint and charming inns (the Inn at 22 Jackson and The Star) to classic, timeless and graceful hotels (Congress Hall and The Virginia Hotel), each Cape Resorts Group property has its own style, defined by a chic sensibility.
